Tues May 1: VCHS program at the museum, 7:00 p.m. “Mystery at the Vernon County Museum”
Presented by the Viroqua Historic Preservation Commission.
This is a participatory program involving the exhibits in our fully accessible museum.


Thurs May 3: Cleaning day at the Foreaker School and Old St. Mary’s Church Museum. 606 W. Broadway in Viroqua. 10 a.m.


Sun May 6: Concert at Old St. Mary’s Church Museum. 606 W Broadway in Viroqua, 7 p.m.
Bella Voce vocal ensemble presents a concert of Renaissance and Baroque music.
Tickets $10, available at the door; proceeds to Bella Voce.


Thurs May 10: Genealogy class† meets at the Normal School Museum at 10 a.m. Megan Isely of the La Crosse Public Library will talk about how to use the free genealogy website “Family Search”.


May 19–20: 50th Annual Syttende Mai celebration in Westby, WI. Westby Area Historical Society activities (including live goats!) at the Thoreson House on Saturday 1 to 3 p.m., 111 Bekkedal Ave. For more information, visit http://www.westbysyttendemai.com.


Sat May 26: Sherry-Butt House opens for the season. Open summer weekends, 1 to 5 p.m.


Mon May 28: Memorial Day. Normal School Museum closed, Sherry-Butt House open.


June 2018: Summer hours begin at the Normal School Museum: Open Monday to Friday, noon to 4 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.


Sun June 3: VCHS annual Cemetery Walk. 4 p.m. at the Liberty Pole Cemetery. Tickets $5, available that day
proceeds to the VCHS.

Thurs June 14: Genealogy class† trip to Madison Visit the Wisconsin Historical Society’s Library and Archives.
Carpool leaves museum parking lot at 7:30 a.m. Lunch in Madison on your own.

Weds July 4: The Marcia Andrew Strawberry Shortcake Social. Sherry-Butt House 1 to 5 p.m.


Thurs July 12: Genealogy class† meets at the Normal School Museum at 10 a.m. Topic and teacher to be announced.


Fri July 27: Archaeology Class for Kids, 10 a.m. – noon at the Normal School Museum. Teacher: Jean Dowiasch of the Mississippi Valley Archaeology Center
Cost: $5 per child (maximum $15 per family)
Grades: going into grades 3 through 12
Pre-registration required.
